Metropolitan Isaiah (Kykotis)

Early Life and Education

Metropolitan Isaiah was born on 12 December 1971 in Strovolos village, a suburb of Nicosia, Cyprus.

He completed his studies at Acropolis High School and then served in the National Guard. In 1990, he entered the Theological School of Apostolos Varnava in Nicosia, where he was also accepted as a novice at the Crusader Monastery of Theotokos Kykkos. At the monastery, he submitted to various obediences.

Studies and Training

In 1992, Metropolitan Isaiah was sent by the abbot of the monastery, Nikiforos (now metropolitan), to Russia for further theological studies. During his time in Russia, he was taught the ecclesiastical Slavic language by Hierarch Ilarian Alpheyev, who later became a metropolitan.

Career

Metropolitan Isaiah is a Greek Cypriot theologian and clergyman of the Orthodox Church. He serves as Bishop of the Autocephalous Church of Cyprus and Metropolitan of Tamas. In addition to his ecclesiastical duties, he also holds the position of Proedros of Orinis.

Recognition and Honors

On September 10, his name day is celebrated in honor of Rev. Isaiah of Cyprus.
