"National Men's Track Championship 1974"
--- CONTENT ---
The 60th Panhellenic men's track championship 1974 was held from 20 to 22 September 1974 at Karaiskakis Stadium, Piraeus, along with the corresponding national women's track championship 1974. Panathinaikos A.O. was again the champion who completed the unprecedented record of the 20 consecutive titles.
Time of the games
This year the participation was limited, on the one hand because the SEGAS had set performance limits and on the other because of the Cypriot tragedy there was little participation of Cypriot athletes. The national marathon championship was held separately, on 6 April, on the classic route, with international participation. On different dates were also held: the decathlon, on 4-5 May during the Spring Athletics Games and 20,000m walk, on 12 June during international track mating at Karaiskaki Stadium. Finally, the "ancient" graphical events of stone and Greek discus were again included in the program.
The "permanent" champion Panathinaikos A.O. This year it prevailed very difficult and by luck, with a difference of only 5 points from Hercules Thessaloniki. Hercules was considered a sure winner of the games but at 4X100m the athlete of Michaelides left with cramps while leading by a difference.
