Niyazi Manyera
Niyazi Manyera (1911–1999) was a Turkish Cypriot politician and physician.
Early Life and Education
Manyera was born in 1911 in Famagusta, Cyprus. He received his primary education in Yeşilköy and later continued at Boltaşlı. After completing his secondary school education at Galatya Rüştiye, he studied medicine at the University of Istanbul, graduating in 1939.
Career
Manyera was elected as the Mayor of Famagusta in 1948. He also worked in the executive committee of the education commission of the Turkish-Cypriot community.
In April 1959, Manyera was a member of the transitional committee, which aimed at drawing up plans to adapt and reorganise the government machine to transfer power from the colonial government to the independent Republic of Cyprus. As part of this process, he took over the Ministry of Health for the period 2 April 1959 – 15 August 1960.
Manyera was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Famagusta Electoral District with the National Turkish Association of Cyprus for the First Parliamentary Period.
Later Life and Death
Manyera served as president of the Turkish Municipal Council of Famagusta from 1958 to 1960. He died on 24 October 1999 in London.
