--- CONTENT ---
The women's basketball division of Olympic Piraeus is legally one of the club's amateur sections and was founded in its modern form in 2015. However, thriving section had also operated for about a decade post-war at the initiative of the athletes of the women's football section of the "reds".
Specifically founded in 1947, he distinguished himself locally in the 1950s and eventually fell into decline in the early 1960s.
At times the revival of the department came to the fore, which was finally possible in the early 2010s, initially with the establishment of the academies in 2013 and the composition of an adult racing division in 2015. In order to compete directly at the top level, the Piraeus club absorbed the team that had won the Greek Championship the previous year, S.A. Sourmen-Greek, keeping the coaches and several athletes of it in order to have the appropriate racing continuity.
From the date of the re-emergence of this athletic section onward, Olympiacos women's basketball team had not been defeated in any domestic game (world record with 137 consecutive wins, 118 in A1), friendly or official for 5 years, winning 5 consecutive undefeated championships and 4 consecutive unbeaten doubles (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), while the 2020 Cup event was not completed due to coronavirus. This record was broken on 25 October 2020, after Panathinaikos lost 61-62 to the Closed Avenue for the 2020-21 Championship.
The club's seat is the auxiliary stadium of the SEF.

Establishment
In June 1947, some of the athletes of the Olympiacos women's volleyball division, who at the same time played amateur basketball on the club's then stadium, "Bakala" (which was in Kastella and was built in 1938 with personal work of Olympiacos members), influenced by the general climate of excitement that prevailed in Greece regarding basketball, which began to watch more and more people, asked for permission from the then president of Olympiacos, Michael Manusco in order to create a red white basketball division of women.
Michael Manuscos saw with a particularly positive eye this prospect and quickly started the proceedings in order to officially establish the Olympiacos women's basketball division. The first roster in the history of the women's group consisted of: M. Neratzis, E. Neratzis, Leonidakis, Deligianni, Hasapakis and Zade. All of them were also athletes of the club's women's volleyball division. First coach was the great Hungarian, Otto Simicek.
