Pambos Avramidis

Pambos Avramidis (February 1, 1914 – May 22, 2005) was a Cypriot footballer and football coach.

Football Career

Avramidis began dealing with football as a student at the Pancyprian High School. He continued his studies at the English School of Nicosia, where he was noticed by APOEL's coach, Josef Kyunsler (also known as Josef Künstler). Avramidis joined APOEL in 1932 and played for the team until his retirement in 1950. During this time, he fought mostly as a left midfielder and won 8 championships and 3 cups with the team.

In addition to his playing career, Avramidis was also a member of the first Cyprus Mixed team in 1936, and its leader in 1949. He later became the leader of Mixed Nicosia in 1950.

Coaching Career

After retiring from football in 1950 at the age of 35, Avramidis followed a career as a coach for 28 years. He worked with many Cypriot teams, winning numerous titles and distinctions. Some of his notable coaching positions include:

* Head coach of APOEL (simultaneously with his position at AIMA in 1952)
* Coach of the Armenian Youth Association AIMA (1950-1953)
* Head coach of Omonia (Nicosia) in 1953

Avramidis also had a significant impact on the development of football players, highlighting many talented individuals during his coaching career.

Personal Life and Legacy

Avramidis passed away on May 22, 2005, at the age of 91. His contributions to Cypriot football as both a player and coach are still remembered today.
