Panikos Stavrianos is a Cypriot politician. He was an MP in the Larnaca Electoral District elected with AKEL in 2006-2016.
Biographical data
Panikos Stavrianos was born in Strubi on February 7, 1964. He speaks, beyond Greek, English and Romanian. He studied medicine at Craiovas University in Romania and forensics and toxicology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He works as a coroner. In 1996-1999 he was employed as a medical examiner from the Republic of Cyprus. In 2000 he was appointed to the Ministry of Justice of Greece as Head of the South Aegean Medical Service. He then returned permanently to Cyprus and worked in the private sector.
He's married to Friday Blecha and has a son and a daughter. He lives in Aradippou.
Path Policy
During his studies he served as president of the Association of Cypriot Students of Craiova.
He was a member of the Health and Environment Office of AKEL and a member of the Pacific Peace Council.
In the 2006 parliamentary elections he was first elected as a Member of Parliament in the Election Region of Larnaca with AKEL for the First Parliamentary Period. He was re-elected in the 2011 parliamentary election for the 1st Parliamentary Period. He did not claim election in the 2016 parliamentary election.
As Member of Parliament, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Crime and Combating Drugs and Dependent Substances and the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment and a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Equal Opportunities between Men and Women, the Parliamentary Committee on Labour and Social Security and the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions, Values and Commissioner of Administration. In addition, he was a member of the Parliamentary delegation to the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy.
Price discrimination
Panikos Stavrianos has been honored by the Information Center for Drugs and Treatment of Dependent Individuals (KENTHEA) for his volunteer contribution to the fight against drugs.
