Panorama Public Prize

--- CONTENT ---
The Panorama Audience Prize (or Panorama Audience Prize, or PPP for short) is a film prize awarded as part of the Panorama Programme of the International Film Festival in Berlin.

The prize was jointly initiated in 1999 by the Berlin city magazine “tip Berlin” and the radio station “radioeins” (RBB) in cooperation with the Panorama Section of the Berlinale. Since 2017 it has been awarded by radioeins, the rbb television and the Panorama Section. The PPP is the only official audience award of the Berlinale.

Jury concept

Each visitor can rate the viewed film in the panoramic program by means of a voting card. There are six possible reviews from “Outstanding” to “Annoying”. The film that received the best average rating from the visitors is the winner of the prize. Since 2011, both the best feature film and the best documentary film have been awarded. The second and third places will also be announced.

With more than 31,000 votes (as of 2014), the jury of the Panorama Audience Award represents the largest independent jury of the Berlinale.

Price

The first Panorama Audience Award was designed in 1999 by Berlin-based artist Hubertus Brand. It was a 40 cm high bronze sculpture in the form of a female head, which was awarded until 2008. The statue was replaced from 2009 to 2013 by a bronze sculpture created by the artist Christian Bilger, which featured three intertwined P's on a grandstand. Since 2014, a trophy in Plexiglas has been awarded, on which a film strip with the three P’s is indicated.

The Panorama Audience Award ceremony takes place annually on the last day of the Berlinale.
