Chalkomata is called the district of Patras, named after the family Chalkomata that settled in the area in 1688, coming from Athens.
In this area was a cottage by Antonios Kalamogdart, who also had the nickname "the hermit of Halkoma". In 1923 he joined the district of Gyri and created a new district called Skagiopullio.
The district is bounded by the OSE station in Agios Andreas to North Epirus Road. Today it is also called New Cyprus.
Sports
In the district of Chalkomata, Progressive Patras was founded in 1925. Upon liberation Progressive was reestablished and in the post-war period she competed 4 years in the First Division of the H.P.S. Patras (1964, 1965, 1966, 1967), while from 1946 to 1963 she competed 11 times in the Second and 8 times in the Third Division.
In 1967 he was forced by the dictatorial regime to force a merger with the Storm, Olympiacos, Achilles, Hercules, the Patriarch and Apollo for the creation of the unsub.
It was reestablished with the fall of the regime and in 1998 it merged with Cyprus, a group from the Kipseli district and was named Progressive/Cyprus of Patras based in Kipseli. In 2001 he won the H.P.S. Cup. Patras, defeating in the final 2-1 in the extension of Mars to the refugee.
In 2004 he last competed in the league and was active again in 2016, starting with the Third Division in the 2016–17 season.
