Karabakh Football Club

Karabakh Football Club is an Azerbaijani football club from the city of Agdam, founded in 1951 under the name "Mahsul". The team has undergone several name changes before adopting its current name, "Karabakh", in 1987. With a rich history spanning over seven decades, Karabakh has established itself as one of the most successful and storied clubs in Azerbaijani football.

The club's home matches are played at the Azersun Arena stadium, located in the Surakhan district of Baku, which has a seating capacity of 5,800 spectators. Karabakh has participated in various domestic competitions since its inception, including the championship of the Azerbaijan SSR and the USSR. The team made its debut in the top division of Azerbaijani football in 1992 and has been a member of the Azerbaijan Higher League ever since.

One of the most notable achievements of Karabakh is its qualification for the Champions League group stage, making it the first and only Azerbaijani team to do so. The club has also won numerous domestic titles, including two championships of the AzSSR, seven league championships in Azerbaijan, and multiple cups. In 2015, the team opened its own stadium, the Azersun Arena, which serves as a testament to their growing success.

Throughout its history, Karabakh has faced significant challenges, including the displacement of the team from Agdam due to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in 1993.
