The qualification for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012 consisted of 12 regional qualification tournaments in the Twenty20 cricket for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012. In these, the ten teams that participate alongside the teams with ODI status in this qualification tournament for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 were determined.

Format
The tournaments were held in the five regions of the International Cricket Council. Three teams from Asia qualified, two each from Africa, America and Europe and one from the East Asian/Pacific region. In each region, the tournaments are hierarchically structured so that the final qualification takes place through the tournament of Division 1. The lower divisions are there to complement the participants of the upper division.

Division 3
The Africa Division 3 tournament was held in Accra, Ghana from 23 to 28 February 2011. Participating teams were: The Gambia, Cameroon, Lesotho, Mali, Morocco, Rwanda and the Seychelles.

Rwanda has thus qualified for Division 2.

Division 2
The Africa Division 2 tournament was held from 14 to 20. May 2011 in Benoni, South Africa. The participating teams were Botswana, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania and the winner of Division 3, Rwanda.

For Division 1, the two best-placed teams Nigeria and Ghana qualified.

Division 1
The tournament of Africa Division 1, the Africa Premier League, took place from 9 to 15. July 2011 in Kampala, Uganda. The participating teams were Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, as well as the two best placed in Division 2, Ghana and Nigeria.

Namibia and Uganda have thus qualified for the final tournament of qualification.

America

Division 3
Americas Division 3 took place in Costa Rica between March 14 and 18. Participating teams were Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, the Falkland Islands and Mexico.

This makes Belize qualified for Division 2.

Division 2
Americas Division 2 took place in Suriname between April 9 and 14. Participating teams were the Bahamas, Brazil, Panama, Suriname, Turks and Caicos Islands as well as the winner of Division 3, Belize.

Division 1
Americas Division 1 took place from 17 to 24 July in Fort Lauderdale, USA. Participated were the teams from Argentina, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, the USA and the winner of Division 2, Suriname. Canada is already in Canada due to existing ODI status
