Raphael Suffotta (A. in San Tahj, April 7, 1913) was an Israeli child poet. He wrote from a Jewish-Moscopic worldview that sees in words part of a new Israeli work that unites sources and wishes for life in the Land of Israel.

biography
Sport was born in the Jewish colony of Margot in Cyprus, where his father Elijah came in the invitation of the settlers to serve as a Chabad. In 1913 he began to teach Hebrew and served in his small community. From him Raphael taught the Hebrew language and a national spirit.

He immigrated to Israel at the age of 11. He attended the Jerusalem School and the vineyards. He later worked for decades as a teacher and director of schools in Tel Aviv: "Nawava was right", until his closure in 1968, and since then, in "Osishkin".

At the same time as his educational work, he published songs, stories, and themes, many of which were trained, founded and edited the publication of the books "Emp: The Educational Library for the Child" and edited a newspaper in the Nachron camp.

Raphael Sport was married to Rebecca Yassin and a father of four girls. He died in 1983 at the age of 70. Buried in the cemetery of Isaac in Tel Aviv. Its name is a square in Tel Aviv.

His creation
Sport sought the roots and identity of Jewish-Israeli music from knowing other cultures, went to Hebrew sources and the Bible, which sought to create something new in the country and free from exile.

After the establishment of the state, when songs have not yet been written on Independence Day, the sport has been initiated along with composer Emanuel Amiran with a connection of ten songs published in the booklet called “Norrah and Olives.” Among them, the song, which was widely published, “The whole country is flags.”

In the year of the High School, he won the award for children and youth books, his book The Sand Palace. That same year, he won a steady prize for children’s books about his song Spring.

The songs of sports have become classics. In the 21st century, the book expenditures also print its books.
