Botanical Description
Sunshine Milk (Eutopia heliopia L.) is a spring annual herbaceous plant belonging to the family of dairy family plants. It has a scattered-haired stem, especially at the top, and less often naked.
The root is thin and fusiform. The stems are erect or spreading, simple, green or reddish in color, and 1-30 in number, with heights ranging from (5)10-35 (50) cm and thickness of 1-4 mm. They have scars from fallen leaves at the base.
Leaf Characteristics
The stem leaves are soft, successive, and reversible or scapular. They have a wedge-shaped base, narrow to the base in a short stem, measuring 8-28 mm long and 5-13 mm wide. The leaves are dull or truncated, often with a notch at the end, which is small-toothed on the sides.
Flower Characteristics
The top-eared flower-bearers are five in number, measuring 0.5-4 (less often up to 8.5) cm long. They have three parts at the end and are then bisected one to three times. The wrap sheets resemble stem leaves but are larger, measuring 1-3 cm long and 7-25 mm wide.
Reproduction
The plant produces small, yellow-green flowers. The entire period of vegetation continues roughly from March to November, with blooming occurring from April to October.
