Raoul I of Exoudun

d'Exoudun (c. 1169-) was a cadet from the House of Lusignan, Lord of Exoudun, La Mothe, Chizé, Benet, Villeneuve, Melle (c. 1190-1219) and Civray (c. 1200-1219). He became married to Alix d'Eu, Count of Eu in Normandy, Baron of Hastings and Tickhill in England (1191-1219). He is a faithful supporter of the King of England, Count of Poitou, Duke of Normandy, Richard Heart of Lion.
Biography
Family
Raoul is the second son of Hugues le Brun (v. 1124-v. 1169) and Aurengarde d'Exoudun (v. 1124-v. 1174). He was the younger brother of (av. 1151-), Lord of Lusignan (ap. 1171-1219) and Count of Marche (1199-1219). He also had as brother Hugues de Surgères (v.1174-1212), vicomte bailistre de Châtellerault (1203-1212), of which he was his successor.
His paternal uncles were (av. 1150-1216), lord of Vouvant and Mervent, (av. 1152-1205) king of Cyprus (1195-1205) and Guy of Lusignan (av. 1153-1194) king of Jerusalem (1186-1192).
Heritage
Raoul is the grandson of 1097-a. 1171. His father's death occurred shortly after his birth. His education and regency are ensured by his grandmother Burgundy of Rancon and especially by his uncle.
Raoul receives the castles of Civray, Benet and Chizé. He inherited the motherland of Exoudun, La Mothe and his grandfather's name: Raoul d'Exoudun; He bears the name instead of the surname Lusignan.
