Red Hawks Veracruz

The Veracruz Red Hawks is a club that participates in the National Professional Basketball League and the National Women's Professional Basketball League based in Veracruz, Veracruz, Mexico.
History
After two successful seasons of the basketball team UV Hawks Xalapa, and to see how the hobby of this sport was increasing in the State of Veracruz, it was decided to acquire a franchise for the city of Veracruz to have a basketball team and to continue to promote this sport in Veracruz territory.
On May 1, 2005, the official announcement was made, the birth of the Hawks of the University of Veracruzana Campus Veracruz (UV Hawks, Veracruz). With this, the state of Veracruz would already have two teams (both representing UV) participating in the LNBP, the country's most important basketball league.

THE DEBUT
Arming a team without much planning and a little less than a month after the 2005 season, the Red Hawks (called by order of Governor Fidel Herrera Beltrán) surprised the league by qualifying the playoff in the second place in the South Zone.
Under the orders of Mexican coach José Luis "Satán" Arroyos, and with an initial plantel made up of 15 players: Karim Malpica, Oscar Castellanos (Team Captain), Alonso Izaguirre, Héctor Martínez, Octavio Robles, Francisco Morales, Roberto Elicerio, Juan Escalante, Francisco Ibarra, as well as Veracruzanos Iván Hernández, Antonio Valenzuela and Arnulfo Valenzuela, in addition to the Americans Craig Jackson, Christopher Ferguson and Lataryl Williams; the Red Hawks began the season before the end of the Red District's second time, without being in the first time of the defeat in the second season of the Red District, resulting in the first time in the defeat of the second season of the Red District.
It should be noted that the three foreigners who started the season were changed for their low performance, and were replaced by the Americans Antonio "La Chispa" Rivers, Carlus Groves and Jason Lawson.
