Redovan flu
--- CONTENT ---
The Fauction of Redovan is an ibera sculpture that was found in the Spanish municipality of Redovan, province of Alicante, in the area known as El Mulagar, in 1893 in the course of excavations carried out by Valeriano Aracil.
It's an image of a mythological being half man half eagle. The work represents a "faucet" or fantastic animal, with leaping eyes, open fauces in the form of a peak, large eyebrows attached, simulating a protohelenic, Cypriot or Phoenical palmeta, and in the cerviz, toothed crest, flanked by two caprine horns.
This sculpture was exhibited at the Louvre Museum, until it was returned to Spain in 1941. It is currently located in the National Archaeological Museum.
Some experts place it with certain features that might point out that the sculptor who sculpted it could be the same one who made the Lady of Elche.
