History
1999-2002
In the second half of the 1990s, singer Irina Tereshina from Novosibirsk achieved fame under the stage name “Diana”. However, she soon lost interest in the project, and in 1998, at the peak of popularity, left the stage and went to Germany. She came up with a legend that there she married the Swede Andreas Nelson and took his surname. After the divorce from Nelson, in 1999 Irina returned to Moscow, where all this time her return was waiting for composer and producer Vyacheslav Tyurin, who later married Irina. Together they decided to create a dance pop project called Reflex. “As soon as it was decided to come up with a name for all this action,” recalls Vyacheslav Tyurin, “we began to read all the inscriptions around, and one day we saw this word.” “Reflection” means “reflection” in Latin, and it seemed to us that Reflex is the word that accurately reflects our inner world. According to Irina Nelson, the band formed later than the material for the debut album was written.
December 16, 1999 on the radio "Europe Plus" premiered the song of the group "Reflex" - "Far Light". The band's debut video, "Far Light", was shot in Germany in late 1999. At that time, the group included one Irina. In early 2000, the group included dancers Olga Kosheleva and Denis Davidovsky. On November 23, the presentation of the video “Meet a New Day” took place at the Studio club, the filming of which took place in Cyprus and Frankfurt am Main.
In early 2001, a song was recorded with Swiss artist DJ Bobo "The Way to Your Heart", whom Irina Nelson met in Germany while he was looking for a singer to record a joint song. In April of the same year, MTV Russia premiered the video “How many years, how many winters”, filmed in Cyprus. The video was directed by the producer of the team Vyacheslav Tyurin. The video featured the debut of new member Grigory Rozov (DJ Silver). On April 18, Reflex released their debut album, Meet a New Day. On the same day, his presentation took place at the Golden Palace entertainment complex. Initially, the album was supposed to be released on March 15, but since the entire edition was not printed, the release was postponed to April. On 27 July 2001, at the invitation of the Government of Guinea, the group performed in Conakry, the capital of that country. Upon returning to Moscow, the band began recording songs for a new album. In November 2001, a video for the song “Go Crazy” was released. The video added scenes filmed by the band in May during a tour to Cyprus. The remaining scenes were filmed in Moscow in October of the same year. The song “Go Mad” reached the top of the Russian hit parade “Golden Gramophone”, and also topped the chart “Eurohit Top 40” radio “Europe Plus”.
