Reggie Bassette

Reginald Fredrick “Reggie” Bassette (*22). November 1977 in Williamsburg, Virginia is a former American basketball player. After studying in his home country Bassette became a professional in Europe, where after a stop on Cyprus he also cast for Avitos and RheinEnergy Cologne in the German basketball Bundesliga. With the Colognes Bassette was as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the BBL All-Star Games 2002 German vice-champion. After stations in Israel, South Korea, France, Belgium and Hungary, Bassette was no longer professionally active after 2008.

Career
Bassette went to study at Old Dominion University in Norfolk in 1995, where he played for the Monarchs college team in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) of the NCAA. In 1997, he won the CAA championship tournament with the team, which ensured participation in the national NCAA finals. Here you failed in the first round only just a surprise, when you lost with only four points difference the strongly favored Lobos of the University of New Mexico. After not being able to defend the title in the CAA in the following two seasons, Bassette could not present himself in the NCAA finals until the end of his college career in 1999. In 1999, he tried to recommend himself in the Summer League United States Basketball League (USBL) with the Kansas Cagerz for a professional contract as lucrative as possible.

Finally, Bassette signed a contract with Athlitiki Enosi Lemesou from Limassol in the Republic of Cyprus for the 1999/2000 season. After he was allowed to participate in a training camp of the NBA club Milwaukee Bucks in the summer of 2000, where he could not recommend himself for a contract, he was then signed for the following season by the German traditional club MTV 1846 Giessen, who competed in the basketball Bundesliga 2000/01 under the sponsor name Avitos. After a fourth place in the main round, one was in the play-off semi-final series against series champion ALBA Berlin chanceless. For the following season, Bassette was engaged by the ambitious ascent RheinEnergy Cologne, who had skipped the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga by means of the license of the neighboring Rhöndorfer TV. Under the former German national coach and Berlin master coach Svetislav Pešić, the team immediately reached the final series for the championship in the basketball Bundesliga 2001/02, in which, however, defending champion ALBA Berlin had to be defeated. Bassette previously participated in the 2002 BBL All-Star Game and was awarded the MVP of this game. During the summer break in 2002 he tried to recommend himself via the USBL at the Dodge City Legends for a professional contract in his home country.

For the 2002/03 season Bassette went to Israel in the Galilean Kfar Blum to Hapoel Galil Elyon, who did not reach a seventh place in the Ligat ha’Al at the end of the season. In
