--- CONTENT--
Viktor Zokas (aka Renard) is an imaginary character, James Bond's enemy, and one of the two main antagonists of the film The World is not enough, 19th of the film series inspired by the work of the English writer Ian Fleming. He is played by Robert Carlyle.
Description
Trained by the KGB as a murderer, but provided with mental instability, with cold war and changed political climate, Renard becomes an anarchist terrorist for the sole purpose of spreading chaos. During a mission to eliminate Renard in Syria, MI6 009's agent strikes Zokas, shooting him a blow to his head. The terrorist survives, but the bullet is in a position where it cannot be removed, and slowly Renard gradually loses the sense of taste, smell and physical pain, which allows him to endure unimaginable efforts and suffering. But even if the bullet inevitably kills him one day, it also means that, with the loss of different senses, it is acquiring an extraordinary resistance increasing its aforementioned normal limits, because it is not able to feel the harm.
Before the events narrated in the film, Renard kidnapped Elektra King, the heir of a billionaire oil magnate, Sir Robert King, holding his prisoner in Cyprus. When Sir Robert refuses to pay ransom on the advice of MI6, Elektra seduces Renard, joining him and becoming his lover, after developing the Stockholm Syndrome.
Without the fact that MI6 is aware of this, Renard begins to work with Elektra in their plan of domination of control and distribution of oil in the Mediterranean area, causing a nuclear explosion on a submarine sinked into the Bosphorus Strait, which will activate a nuclear holocaust with the death of eight million people (including Renard) in Istanbul, making sure that oil can no longer arrive in the West with the death of Elektra
Film
Together with Elektra King, Renard launches an attack against MI6 headquarters in London, where the explosion causes the death of Sir Robert King, various agents and agency staff. Subsequently, with his henchmen, he infiltrates a former Soviet missile base in Kazakhstan, where, after a confrontation with Bond, he steals a necessary nuclear weapon to destroy Istanbul killing millions of people for the sole purpose of making Elektra assume the absolute control of the oil market in the West.
After 007 kills Elektra King, the two have a last clash aboard the submarine caught in the Bosphorus. With the help of Dr. Christmas Jones, Bond attacks Renard and his men, and in the confusion that follows, the submarine touches the tight bottom, causing a loss in his shell. With the flooded submarine and on the point of exploding, Bond struggles with Renard, who is engaged to try to attack a plutonium bar in the reactor
