Biography
Graduated in medicine and surgery and specialized in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine, since 1990 he is a medical manager of the Usl 3 Company in Pistoia, operating since February 2014 at the Tuscany Region as regional manager of the extraordinary plan for safe work. At the beginning of the 1980s he founded the film culture club Joris Ivens, of which he was President until 1984. He served as president of the Pistoiese Theatre Association from 1996 to 2002.
In 1984 he became President of the ARCI of Pistoia, office from which he resigned in 1985 when he was elected municipal councillor in the municipality of Pistoia for the Italian Communist Party.
From 1985 to 1990 he was a council member of the municipality of Pistoia with the delegations to the Decree, Information and then Social Policies, Education and Education.
In 1990 he was re-elected to the City Council and for a few months he was a council member with delegates to Sport, Traffic, Municipal Police, Social Services, Residential Building.
In October 1990, following the recruitment of the USL of Pistoia, he resigned from the post of councilman continuing his commitment as a municipal councilman and then as a Group of the Democratic Party of the Left until 1994.
In the municipal elections of 27 and 28 May 2002 he was elected mayor of Pistoia in the first round with 62.4% of the votes. He was reconfirmed mayor in 2007 (at the ballot) with 53.3% of the votes. He held office until 7 May 2012, or until the expiration of the second term for a total of ten years after which he returned to work as a doctor at the USL leaving his post to Samuele Bertinelli.
In 2013 he published for Felici Editore his first book, "Between Saying and Doing", the reconstruction without hair on the language of some of the most curious episodes occurred during the decade in which he was Mayor.
In 2015 he went out for the Istos Edizioni his second work, "Il mazziere di Eleusi", a novel with yellow colors along the trajectory that goes from Cyprus to the Caribbean passing through Paris.
