Ricos Erocritou is a Greek Cypriot politician. He was a Member of Parliament in the Limassol Electoral District in 1991–2011 originally elected with DISY and then with EUROKOS. In addition, he served as Assistant Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus.
Biographical Data
Ricos Erocritou was born in Limassol on 28 January 1956. He speaks, beyond Greek, English. He studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He attended graduate studies at the London School of Economics specializing in criminal law. He's a lawyer.
He is married to Marinella Thrashyvu and has a son.
Path Policy
In his student years he served as vice president of the National Student Association of Cypriots (EFEK) Thessaloniki.
He was first elected MP in the 1996 parliamentary election in the Lefkosia Electoral District with the Democratic Alarm-Communist Liberal coalition for the VII Parliamentary Period.
He was re-elected in the 2001 parliamentary election with the Democratic Alert for the VIII Parliamentary Period. In 2004 he disagreed with DISY on the support of Annan Plan in the referendum on 24 April 2004 to solve the Cyprus problem. DISY advocated accepting the solution plan while Ricos Erosocritou, like other executives, disagreed. It deletes from the classes of DISY on 4 May 2004 for "anti-party actions". Along with other former INSY officials founded the European Republic, taking over as the party's vice president.
On 3 July 2005 he was one of the founding members of the European Party (Eurocos). He was a member of the Executive Office of the EUROCOS. He was re-elected in the 2006 parliamentary elections with the EUROCO for the Second Parliamentary Period. He claimed re-election in the 2011 parliamentary election but was not elected.
As Member of Parliament, he served as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Crime, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions, Values and Commissioner of Administration, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs and Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs. In addition, he served as the head of the European Party group in the House.
Assistant Attorney General
In the 2013 presidential election, Ricos Erocritou had supported Nikos Anastasiades since round one. The Eurokos supported Nikos Anastasiades in the second round, who was elected, while in the first round he had supported a vote at will. A few months after his election, on July 9, 2013, Nikos Anastasiades appointed Rico Erostokritou as Assistant Attorney General.
On 24 September 2015, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Cyprus decided to stop Rikkos Eroskritos from his duties as Assistant Attorney General, due to inappropriate conduct. The request for the cessation of Rikkos Erocritos had been lodged by Attorney General Costas Clerides.
