Ricos Mappuridis was born in Nicosia on 14 July 1959. He's born blind. He speaks, beyond Greek, English. He studied law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He works as a lawyer.

After his studies he completed his practice at the office of the Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus. He then worked for three years in a law firm. From 1985 to 1990 he kept his own law firm.
