Rodman-55 class
--- CONTENT ---
The Rodman-55 Class is a series of patrols designed and manufactured by the Spanish shipyard Rodman Polyships, in the parish of Meira, municipality of Moaña, Pontevedra.
There are different variants within this same class among which we find:
Rodman-55HJ
Rodman-55M
Rodman-55HJ
These high-speed patrols are made of advanced composite materials, such as hybrid multi-axial aramide and E glass, as well as other fibres such as kevlar, and laminated with isophthalic resins, forming a single-piece or monolithic laminate.
They provide active service with the Customs Surveillance Service, where they caused discharge with the name Cormoran class in 1989, and in the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard where they have served since 2003 under the name of their serial head, the Arba River.
It should be borne in mind that the serial head of the Cormoran class of the Customs Surveillance Service was an experimental model from which the complete series would later derive, hence we find differences between the characteristics of the different units.
The Maritime Service of the Civil Guard also operates two ships Rodman-55HJ of the Canary class, owned by the Government of the Canary Islands, hence the name of the class, but assigned for its operation to that one. They are similar to those built for the Government of Cyprus. This is why they present differences in superstructure and motorization with respect to the other units in service, rather being a model derived from the above.
Rodman-55M
In Spain, he was the first type of patrol, along with the Saeta 39 class, with which the SEMAR had received 14 units of this series between 1991 and 1996.
There are currently 10 units in service with the Civil Guard, one of which has been reduced by sinking and the other three, two to the Mauritanian Gendarmerie and one to Senegal.
It is very similar to this boat models that serve in different administrations dependent on different autonomous communities with a wide range of tasks.
Five copies of this model were acquired by the Paraguayan Navy and many others by that of Suriname.
