Romoexpress
--- CONTENT ---
The Romoexpress is a double end ferry for combined car and passenger transport, which has been used since November 2019 between the Danish port of Havneby on the island of Rømø and the German List on Sylt from the Rømø-Sylt line. The ship, built in 1991, was previously in service as Tresfjord.
The name is not spelled correctly in either German or Danish.
History
The combined passenger and vehicle ferry was commissioned by Eide Contracting shipyard in Høylandsbygd. Eide Contracting fell into financial difficulties in the early 1990s, after which the ship was completed by Fiskerstrand Verft in Fiskerstrand. The ferry was built for Møre og Romsdal Fylkesbåtar (a predecessor of Fjord1). After delivery in April 1991, it was used under the name Tresfjord on the ferry Molde-Vestnes.
In 2010, a comprehensive conversion took place at STX Norway Offshore in Langsten/Tomrefjord, in which the propulsion was converted to gas operation (LNG). From February 2011 to January 2019, the vessel operated the Flakk-Rørvik ferry line and was then kept available until May 2019 as a reserve ferry for the route originally operated. In August 2019, the ferry was sold and handed over to the new owner on September 2, 2019. On 3 September 2019, she was brought to the BLRT shipyard in Tallinn for conversion.
Since November 12, the ferry, renamed Romoexpress, operates on the Rømø-Sylt line. The originally planned deployment date from 5. November 2019 was postponed due to technical problems.

Technical data
The ship is powered by two electric motors acting on two propeller nacelles. Two generators are available for power generation, which can be driven by a four-stroke six-cylinder diesel engine from Bergen Engines (type: BRM-6) or by a nine-cylinder gas engine from Bergen Engines (type: C25:33L9AG), which was retrofitted at STX Langsten in the early 2010s. In addition, an emergency generator powered by a Volvo Penta diesel engine (type: D12) is available.
