Biography
Rumyana Jeleva was born on 18 April 1969 in Nova Zagora. He graduated from German Language School in Burgas and in 1995 he graduated from Sofia University with a degree in sociology. In 2003 he defended his doctorate (PhD) in the same area at the University of Oto von Gerike
Jeleva is an expert in the labour market, human resources and social policy. Public Relations and Corporate Communications Lecturer at the Department of Sociology at the Sofia University. Guest Professor of European Studies at Magdeburg University and First Degree Fellow at the Institute of Sociology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. During the years of his scientific career, he has had professional experience in managing a number of commercial companies, taking up managerial positions.
Its scientific and professional interests are related to the transition economy and the restructuring of the labour organisation in Eastern Europe. She has participated as a researcher and consultant in projects of the UN Development Programme and the PHARE Programme to develop initiatives for the labour market, social inclusion and youth employment.
There are dozens of publications and over 20 participations in international projects and conferences in Germany, Austria, Cyprus, Norway, Latvia, Portugal, Hungary, Russia and Serbia in the field of industrial relations, entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility. She specialized in economic and industrial sociology in Germany at the University of Bilefeld and at the Free University of Berlin.
He is a member of the organizations Berliner Forum (International network of business ethics), Bulgarian Sociological Association (BSA) and the Rotary Club Burgas Primorie, coordinator for Bulgaria of the European Association for Rural Sociology.
Political Career
MEP and foreign minister
In the first elections for Bulgarian representatives in the European Parliament in June 2007 she was elected MEP by GERB party. At the elections for the European Parliament on 7 June 2009 he was the leader of the list of GERB and was again elected MEP. She did not stay in office for long because on 27 July 2009 she was elected Foreign Minister of Bulgaria in the First Government of Boyko Borisov.
