As of 2020, Israel has 1,500 members operating in 61 clubs across the country. The last club was founded in 2017 at the local council of June.
As defined by themselves, “In the framework of professional activity, members of the Rotary and veterans help with a business escort, consultants and manuals of bodies and businesses while fostering collaborations with the Chambers of Commerce, local authorities and business bodies in a wide range of topics... Rotri members foster social and professional ties, work for the local community and promote humanitarian projects in the world.”
The organization has a core organization, the Rutri Israel Association, which works alongside the organization and a belief in the treatment of the organization’s funds and property.
History of History
During the pioneers
The oldest club in the country is the Jerusalem club founded in March 1929, which was founded under the auspices of the Cairo Rotary. With his friends, Jews, Muslims, Christians, and the cells. The Jerusalem Club has an international character since its establishment, and its meetings are held, even today, in English.
On January 20, 1933, the second club was established in Haifa. Despite the events there were 46 members: 18 Jews, 13 Arabs, 12 British and one Dutch. The Mayor of Haifa served as an honorary member of the club. On December 30, 1934, a club was founded in Tel Aviv.
After the establishment of the state
Rotary clubs in the world are organized in “regions.” The division is usually according to the number of clubs. Some countries have several “regions.” The Land of Israel clubs were part of the region of 83 (later Area 199), which also included Egypt, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Jordan (as this country was called at the time). Representatives from various countries attended conferences in the Land of Israel, and the representatives of the clubs from the United Nations were regional conventions in the neighbors.
The establishment of the State of Israel has cut the fifteen bachelor’s clubs from their area and because Israel is surrounded by hostile neighbors, there is a difficulty in meeting the region. On the visit of the World President in Israel in 1953, he promised to consider the establishment of an independent area if three more clubs were established. The clubs were established and Israel was recognized as an independent area of 249, which is now 2490.
