Saint Anthony (Nicosia)

--CONTENT --
St. Anthony () is an Orthodox temple in the features of the Old Town of the Cypriot capital Nicosia. It is located near the Archbishop's Palace, St. John's Cathedral and the house of Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios.

It was built in the 17th century and restored in the 18th century, at the end of Turkish domination over the country. It's made of the golden sandstone, mined along the island's coast. The church is one-shipd and without a dome, like the climberboards of St. John. The roof is covered with tiles. There are three vaulted entrances and a high bell tower filled with a stone. It contains stones from an earlier building. An interesting part of the interior is wood carving iconostasis.

Today the church is pressed between later built buildings, and its garden is destroyed.
