Salampia
Salampsio
Life Story
Salampsio (Hebrew: שלומציון, Shlomtzion) was the eldest daughter of Herod the Great by his third wife, Mariamne I of the Asmonites/Maccabees, who descended from the royal family of the Hasmoneans.
Family
Salampsio had several half-brothers due to her father's eight other wives. She married her cousin Phasael II, son of Herod's brother Fasael I, and had five children:
* Antipater
* Herod (son)
* Alexander
* Alexandra
* Cypros
Marriage and Children
Herod initially wanted to give Salampsio in marriage to his brother Ferora, but he broke the engagement due to falling in love with a concubine. As a result, Herod arranged for Salampsio's marriage to Phasael II instead.
