Events
The decade of the 110s was marked by significant events in the Roman Empire, including military campaigns and rebellions.
### Trajan's Campaigns (113-117)
* In 113, the Trajan Column was built in Rome to commemorate the emperor's campaigns against the Dacians.
* In 114, Trajan launched a campaign against the Parthian Empire, conquering Armenia and Mesopotamia, as well as modern-day Kurdistan. This marked the largest extension of the Roman Empire.
* The campaign led to a series of battles in the Euphrates region, including the Battles of the Euphrates, where Trajan defeated the Euphrates Empire and conquered Armenia and Mesopotamia.
### Diaspora Uprising (115-117)
* A diaspora uprising occurred in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Libya, and Cyprus from 115 to 117. The Jews were attacked in Kirannica, Cyprus, and Alexandria against the Roman Emperor Trajan, while he was busy with a war campaign against the Euphrates.
### Hadrian's Actions (119)
* In 119, Hadrian sent the 9th Legion Wicks to Britain to help suppress local rebellion.
Infrastructure
The Roman Empire had approximately 75,000 kilometers of paved roads during this period. The governability of the empire and its extensive trade depended heavily on these roads, which allowed great armies to move quickly over long distances. The construction of roads involved the use of Roman legions, many slaves, and subjugated peoples. Rocks and hills were removed, tunnels built, dams constructed, or swamps drained to follow the straightest line possible.
Significant Political Events
* In 111, Trajan sent the young Pallius to Asia Minor.
* In 114, Diogenes replaced Sedion as the Patriarch of Constantinople.
* In 115, Sixtus I became the heir to the throne of the Pope.
