"Sergeant"

The sergeant is a rank of sergeant (OR-6) and formerly (OR-5), of the Greek Army of Dry, senior of the corporal and junior sergeant.
The corresponding rank in English-speaking armies is called Sergeant.
Etymology
The word Sergeant comes from the company + -ia (usually ending of many Greek nouns).
Discrimination
Greece:
In the Land Army they are distinguished in:
Permanent, from the School of Permanent Petty Officers
Long-term volunteers (SMPs)
Five-year obligation (OPY/PSP) gunners
Professional soldiers (supervised)
Reserve sergeants. The rank of reserve sergeant is awarded honorably two months before firing to reserve Corporal Special Forces and ELDYK who distinguished themselves during their term of office
The corresponding points in the Navy are the Petty Officer and in the Air Force the sergeant.
Cyprus:
In the National Guard they are distinguished in:
Permanent, who come from the School of Permanent Petty Officers
Reservers, who fulfilled their duties as sergeants and in exceptional cases, Cadet Epheders Officers who did not meet the criteria for their designation as Reserve Lieutenants.
The corresponding grades in the Navy Command are the Petty Officer and in the Air Force Command the sergeant.
