This is the largest Orthodox church in the country. It is located not far from the American Embassy, on the corner of the boulevards . The length of the building is 60 meters, width and height of 30 m respectively and capacity of 850 seats.

The church was designed by architect Fanos Loisides, specialist in church architecture, after a winning competition. It was opened in 2008 and the architecture was created on the basis of the church of the same name in Constantinople.

There are also three small underground chapels under the church, one of which operates as a baptistery for children and adults. It is provided for a large multifunctional hall, a confessional and offices. There are rooms for break of newlyweds and a large room for receiving congratulations. The bells are 2 specifically provided with small sizes to emphasize thus the glitter of the church dome.

On December 15, 2008, Tassos Papadopoulos, former president of the Republic of Cyprus, was solemnly buried in the church.

The church has several large parking lots.
