In 1957, 105 mm ball in America and better body armor is planned. M60 is largely based on M48 T tank. If there are important differences between them; in M60, 105 mm ball is 90 mm ball in M48. The sloped area with the body in the M60 is straight, if it is in M48, there is 5 cubic reels in M48, while 3 in M60. The tower of M-60s is slightly larger than that. A Continental V-12 750 hp air cooled dual turbocharged engine and space range up to about 500 kilometers. A cross moving transmission, combined transmission, a combined transmission, differential, steering system and braking system are transmitted to power by reducing speed. The motor on the front of the crew is on the back. M60 tank uses M85 Machined rifle to ensure protection.
Initially, M60’s turret was thought, but with the changes made, the unique "needlenose" turret design was applied to reduce the effect of enemy fire as much as possible.
The M60 tank, which was named as M68, entered production in 1959, and its name was modified as M60. The army inventory has been in 1960. Production of over 15,000 units (with all derivatives).

The origin is based on M26 Pershing, the source of M48. In 1957, a tank was planned to provide better armor protection with US 105 mm topa. In accordance with this idea, the first M60 tanks were produced in 1959 with the name M68 but then the name was changed as M60.
As a result, the base is largely similar to the M48 tank. There are some important differences between them, although it is similar. These;
M48 has 105mm ball in M60 tank while 90mm ball in the first models.
The front side of the body of the M60 is straight, while in M48, it should be blinked.
There are 3 istikamet reels in M60 but 5 in M48. The tower of M-60s is slightly larger than that.
The motor on the front side of the crew is on the back. The range of this design tank has been completed with the dual turbocharged Continental AVDS-170-92 engine, which allows to exit over 300 spindles.
M60 is the last American tank using homogeneous armor. The first generation design left M60A1, which was replaced in 1963. All produced M60s were converted to M60A1. Part of the first generation tanks is in the exhibition in museums that have been in the USA.
M60A1
In 1963, M60 M60A1 has been developed and developed in production until 1980
