TT-Line

--- CONTENT ---
TT-Line (originally: TT-Line) is the brand name under which the Lübeck-based group of companies Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG operates ferry services between Central Europe and Scandinavia. The name TT-Line resulted from the initial letters of the two connected ports Travemünde and Trelleborg.

Company history
The Travemünde-Trelleborg-Line (TT-Line) was founded in 1962 by shipowner J. A. Reinecke, who also managed the ships. The second-generation ships involved Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG and Iduna-Versicherungen. From 1 October 1967, the management of the ships was transferred to OHG Travemünde-Trelleborg-Linie (TT-Linie) GmbH & Co., and Reinecke's shares went to the shipping company Aug. Bolten Wm. Miller's successor. Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG now held 83% and Aug. Bolten, Wm. Miller’s successor (GmbH & Co.) KG 16% at the TT-Line. Management was held by TT-Line GmbH & Co. KG, which was equally owned by both partners.

The shipping company has operated a ferry service between Travemünde in Schleswig-Holstein and Trelleborg in southern Sweden since 1962. In 1977, the shareholders of the TT line took part in the shipping company Olau Line, which finally took over in 1979. Until 1994, Olau Line operated a two-vessel ferry service between Vlissingen in the Netherlands and Sheerness in southern England. The high German tariffs then no longer allowed an operation.

In 1980, the German TT Line, together with the Swedish Saga Linjen, a subsidiary of the Swedish State Railways, founded the TT-Saga Line. A joint fleet of six ships drew from Travemünde to the Swedish ports of Trelleborg, Malmö and Helsingborg. Two years later, in 1982, connections to Malmö and Helsingborg were discontinued and activities were concentrated on the Travemünde-Trelleborg route. In 1991, Saga Linjen (now renamed Swedcarrier) retired from the pool. Their shares were taken over by the Swedish shipping company Gotlandsbolaget, which in turn left the pool at the end of 1992. The German shareholders of TT-Line were then the sole operator of the ferry link between Travemünde and Trelleborg.

Together with Deutsche Seereederei Rostock GmbH (DSR), a ferry connection between Trelleborg and Rostock was operated under the name “TR-Line” from 1992. In 1996, TT-Line took over the shares of the German shipping company Rostock and operated the route Rostock-Trelleborg alone, now also under the brand “TT-Line”.

In 2006, the company’s headquarters were moved from Hamburg to Lübeck-Travemünde.

At the beginning of 2013, Arend Oetker and Bernhard Termühlen, who had previously participated in the TT-Line through Trampschiffahrt GmbH & Co. KG, took over the shares of the shipping company Aug. Bolten Wm. Miller's successor and all shares
