Takis Christofidis was born in 1931 in Famagusta. After graduating from the Greek Famagusta High School he studied accounting and was then accepted as a member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants of England. From 1961 to 1974 he practiced the profession of approved accountant in Famagusta. He was a partner in an accounting house, which was established as the city's main accounting house. He was a founding member of the Cyprus Association of Approved Accountants, of which he was also a member of the board.

Moreover, from his youth he developed trade union action in Famagusta where he led the establishment of the trade union, of which the first secretary served.
