Early Life and Education

Takis Evdokas (; 19 June 1928 – 12 February 2020) was a Greek Cypriot far-right politician, psychiatrist, and writer.

Political Career

Evdokas was born in Pachna, Limassol. He was the founder of the Democratic National Party which advocated for the union of Cyprus and Greece (Enosis). In his political career, Evdokas represented a unitary or anti-macarian right-wing party or far-right, seeking the continuation of Union policy with Greece.

### Presidential Candidacy

In 1968, Evdokas was a candidate in the Cypriot presidential elections on 25 February against Archbishop Makarios, who enjoyed the preference of the overwhelming majority of the electorate. During his campaign, he made severe criticism of Makarios and the Cypriot Church in an article published in a newspaper in January 1968.

### Election Speech

On 15 February 1968, Evdokas submitted his candidacy for the presidency at a press conference, stating that his purpose was to achieve smooth political life and political pluralism. However, during his central election speech, he was attacked by fans of Archbishop Makarios.

Later Life and Death

Evdokas passed away on 12 February 2020.
