Path Policy
He was elected MP in the 1976 parliamentary election in the Limassol Electoral District with the Democratic Party (later DIC) for the 3rd Parliamentary Period. As Member of Parliament, he served as Chairman of the Committee on Trade and Industry.
In 1980 he left DEKO due to disagreements. He then joined the New Democratic Party (NEDUSA). In the 1981 parliamentary elections NEDUSA did not elect any of its candidates.
On 28 February 1988 he was appointed Minister for Trade and Industry in the Government of George Vassiliou. He resigned on 16 January 1993. The reason for the resignation was the saliva created after his abusive statements against Glaucus Clerides on a radio station. Takis Nemitsas responded to the claims of Glaucus Clerides of 14 January 1993 in the House of Representatives that he used his position to promote his personal interest. In addition, on 15 January 1993 the DISY and DIKO parties decided by majority, at a session of the House of Representatives, to cut off Takis Nemista's salary and the funds relating to the provision of services by the ministry of which he presided. These events took place a few days before the 1993 presidential election, with the main contenders George Vassiliou and Glaukos Clerides.
