Talk Radio 98.9 is a local information radio station, based in Kifisia.

Background
The station began broadcasting (originally at 98.7) in mid-1989 as Seven X Radio with an entertainment character and transmission of foreign music. In the mid-1990s it was renamed Cool FM. In late 1999 he changed ownership and on 7 September, on the day of the Parnitha earthquake was renamed Alpha News 98.7 with an informative character.

With the distribution of frequencies in February 2002, due to the additional licensing of radio stations by the Ministry of Press and the redistribution of frequencies, the station is transferred to a frequency of 98.9.

In early 2003 it is renamed Alpha Radio 98.9 and then takes temporary names first on 19 October 2009 on Theme 98.9 and second on 20 September of the following year, on Radio Nine (as Channel 9 sister station now One Channel). However, on Tuesday 29 May 2012 it is renamed Alpha Radio 98.9.

On October 2, 2023, after 11.5 years, Alpha 989, was replaced by the "social-talk" radio called Talk 989, joining, and social character in the radio station's profile beyond its informative since 1999.

Range
The station has not nationwide range, but since 1999 as Alpha News has been working with other local radio stations in Greece, developing a wide network of relays, across the territory, providing for a long time and sister station with an autonomous program in Thessaloniki called Alpha 96.5 joining the network when it was introduced as Radio Saturn in 2001 renamed Alpha News Thessaloniki and in 2022 it was renamed a Pulse 96.5 station operating from 2005 until 2013 that was re-turned to Alpha 96.5.

Property
The station changed many times ownership in its history. To date, the operator is the Alpha Radio Anonymous Company, established in mid-1989 as a Foreign Radio Anonymous Company and the distinctive title Xenia FM. His first owner, was the Kouloukundi group who started the radio station called Seven X, a few months before the television channel (now SKAI).

In late 1999, the station was sold to the parent company of the Alpha Digital Synthesis satellite platform, owned by also the newly formed Alpha TV group, was moved from Maroussi (where it was housed along with the renamed Seven TV) to St. John Rednis, amended the body's charter, changing its name to the current, and the distinctive title to Alpha News. For a short time, vice president of the station's board, George Tragas takes over. In the two years 2003-2004, the company's distinctive title was changed to Alpha Radio and Alpha 98.9.
