The Greek philosopher Euphrates (the 4th century BCE) wrote in his essay “Research on Plants” about the growing yeasts in the Jordan Valley: “In the beginning of Syria, where most of the draconians are, only in three districts, so say, where the earth emerges, there are signs that can be preserved... However, it is said that Syrian residents do not use processing, other than the initiation of trees and drink, and that the clay tree needs water from the sky; and such skies are abundant in the valley where the palms are plucked. And they add that this valley continues through the land of the evening to the Red Sea. And that’s in the lowest part of which the clay trees grow. The only gamblers that will be preserved, they say, are those growing in the Syrian valley, while the growing question in Egypt, Cyprus or elsewhere are only used when they are fresh.
Historians also Diodorus Skulus, Popius Trogus and Titus said about the trees of the slump grown around the Dead Sea and the Jericho Valley.
The Roman scholar Varo wrote: "The conversion trees of Syria carry fruit in Judea, but they cannot take fruit in Italy."
The Greek scholar Strabon said of the “provided custom of the Jews who invented in the case of the palm tree” – they do not allow them to grow in many places, and because of their rareness they set them a high price and thus increase their income.
The Roman poets and accustomius and Bartalialis called the famous palms of the Land of Judea “Red Dacal”. The Roman poet Statius also mentioned in his Silway the "famous fruits" of the "foreign slopes of red" and its palms, the Roman poet Sirius Elycus referred to his "fectonic" work to the Asphesian triumph over "the thin dolls of red", and later Suleitanus also pointed out the "rich" red.
