Tanisha Wright (born 29). November 1983 in Brooklyn, New York is an American basketball player. Most recently, she played for the New York Liberty in the Women’s National Basketball Association as Point Guard in 2019.

Career

College (2001 to 2005)
Before moving to the WNBA, Tanisha Wright played as point guard for the Pennsylvania State University women’s basketball team from 2001 to 2005. In total, she made 134 assignments for the university, and she was in the starting line-up 126 times. In her first three years she was a big support for Kelly Mazzante, the star of the team. After Mazzante joined the WNBA in 2004, Wright led the team in her senior season. In her last season she came up with an excellent average of 19.3 points per game. In total, she scored 1,995 points for the university. She also received several awards. She was elected to the first team USBWA All-American, and was also named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year three times.

WNBA (since 2005)
Wright was drawn in the 2005 WNBA Draft by the reigning champion of the Seattle Storm in the twelfth place. Actually, in her rookie season 2005 she should take the position of substitute player of Betty Lennox. After Lennox had injured herself, she advanced into the Storm starting lineup in August 2005. This month she scored a 7.8 point cut per game, and she also scored 58.8% of her throws from the field. Wright finished her first season with an average of 3.6 points per game. In the two following seasons she was still mostly used only as a substitute player. During the 2008 season, she finally made the jump into the starting formation. This gave her correspondingly more playing time, which was also reflected in her statistics for this season. Wright set a new personal record with an average of 3.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 7.9 points per game in all of these areas. On January 7, 2009, Storm head coach Brian Agler announced that the Wright contract had been extended. As of the 2009 season, Wright was almost always in the starting line-up of the Storm and was able to achieve their career highs this year with an average of 32.5 minutes and 12.2 points. But the great manly success remained. She failed for the fifth time in a row with the team in the first playoff round. This came in the 2010 season when the Storm team can win the WNBA championship for the second time. After the championship, the following three seasons ended again with defeats in the first playoff round. In the 2014 season, she missed the playoffs for the first time. After ten seasons in Seattle, Tanisha Wright played from the 2015 season in her hometown for the New York Liberty. There she stood almost consistently in the Starting Five and reached with the team in both
