Tank Cavalry Regiment 9

The Tank Cavalry Regiment 9 "General José Gervasio Artigas" () is a regiment of the Argentine Army's (EA) cavalry weapon. It is based on the Puerto Deseado Army Headquarters, Santa Cruz Province. It is a component of the IX Mechanical Brigade (), 3rd Army Division ().
Origin
In 1826, the president of the Bernardino Rivadavia Nation created the 9 Regiment of Line Cavalry.

Since its creation its pre-present peace settlements were: Montevideo, South, North and West, Villa Mercedes, Resistencia (Chaco), Esquina (Corrientes), Santa Fe, Buenos Aires, Bahia Blanca, General Roca (Río Negro), Bariloche, Provincia del Chaco, Formosa, Paraná, Curuzú Cuatiá and Mercedes (Corrientes).
He was a presidential escort until 1904. It was the base of the Cavalry School until 1956.
In 1964 he became the Blindada 3 Cavalry Exploration Squadron, under the Third Infantry Brigade.
He usually performs his exercises on the great grounds of Patagonia, as was the "Roca" exercise in April 2000, along with the entire 11th Brigade and the presence of then-defense minister Ricardo López Murphy.
In March 2010, he intervened with his tanks in the Operation Retrograde exercise developed in Santa Cruz, with the presence of then Defense Minister Nilda Garré. At the end of that year, he became a staff member of the Argentine Joint Battalion 13 Haiti, participating in the United Nations MINUSTAH mission, until June 2011.
At the end of 2011, the unit began to move part of its SK-105 endowment material to the Tank 13 Cavalry Regiment, located in General Pico, under an Army Material Redeployment Plan. The vehicles were moved by trucks from the RC Tan 13 and the Pigüé Logistics Support Base, starting their trips from the BAL Comodoro Rivadavia.
In March 2014, the unit is deployed to Cyprus, as it is the main core of the Argentina Task Force 45, which is being carried out by the UNFICYP peace mission. The monitoring operations of RC Tan 9 staff in Sector 1 of the Zone Buffer are extended until September of that year.
