Teukros – Konstantinos Michaelidis (22 May 1954) is a Cypriot mathematician and writer.

Life Story

He was born in Athens in 1954. His parents were journalist Andreas Michailidis - Hannas and mathematician Eleni Russos - Michailidou. He is married to Source Plataniotou and has two children.

He studied mathematics at Pierre and Marie Curie University (:fr:Université Pierre et Marie Curie), in Paris, where he received, in 1980, his doctorate in Algebraic Number Theory. The examination committee for his thesis were Professors Marc Krasner, Claude Chevalley and François Aribaud. Since 1981, he has been teaching mathematics in Middle Education.

Along with his professional involvement in mathematics he became interested in the history of positive sciences, the applications of information technology in education and the use of narrative as a tool for teaching mathematics. On these issues he has made many publications and announcements at conferences.

Since the 1990s he has been involved in translating works on mathematics and science history. He has translated thirty books, including Denis Guedj's theorem, the collective work The great equations of the twentieth century and Andrew Crumey's novel Mobius Dick.

At the same time he began writing in newspapers and magazines about topics about their mathematics and history. In 2003 – 2004 he retained in the newspaper News the column Synergies that attempted to interpret the current through mathematics. The same goal was served by the column of illustrations and exaggerations that it retained in the Free Press newspaper in 2007 – 2008. Today he is a regular associate of the e-magazine Map and Pollar magazine.

In 2004 he was released from the Polis publications his first book, Mathematics Modern, with essays on mathematics and modernity. In 2006 from the same publications he released his novel Pythagorean Crimes translated into six languages (Italian, Spanish, English, Chinese, Korean and French).

In 2012 ERT presented the show The round of the world with 80 books (26 episodes) aimed at cultivating reading in children and adolescents.

The film Other than that of Sotiris Tsafoulia, is based on his story In the case of self - justice and is based on the qualities of friendly numbers.

Still, he has participated in collective short stories volumes.

He is a founding member of the THALIS + FILES team and E.L.S.A.L. (Greek Club of Writers of Police Literature).

Price discrimination

The French government awarded him the title of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques for services to education and culture.

The Cypriot government awarded him the State Novel Award for the book of Ahmes, the son of the moon.
