Early Life and Education

Thalamus McGhee was born on August 28, 1975, in Houston, Texas.

Career

After high school, McGhee attended Trinity Valley Community College (also known as the "Junior College") in the Dallas-Fort-Worth-Metroplex in 1993. During his time at Trinity Valley, he played for the Cardinals team and won two National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association championships in the Foureen Conference.

In 1995, McGhee transferred to the University of Alabama, where he was supposed to replace Antonio McDyess on the Crimson Tide college team. However, he only had a conditional success during his time at the university.

Professional Career

McGhee began his professional career in Europe after completing his studies at the University of Alabama. In 1997, he played for Bayreuth in Germany's Basketball-Bundesliga for two years until the end of the 1998-1999 season.

In the 1999–2000 season, McGhee played for Apollo Limassol in Cyprus, where his team won the Cypriot Championship. He also participated in the Korać Cup, averaging 21.1 points and 14.0 rebounds per game over eight matches.

In September 2000, McGhee joined Snaidero Udine, a newly promoted team in Serie A1, with which he played for 24 regular season games, scoring an average of 11.8 points and grabbing 8.7 rebounds per game. This contributed to the team's seventh place finish and qualification for the playoffs.

The following season, McGhee began playing for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne in France under coach Bogdan Tanjević.

Later Career

McGhee ended his professional career at the age of 30 in 2005 with HKK Široki in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
