The 5th of the Syrian War
--- CONTENT ---
The fifth of the Syrian War is the conflict between Ptolemy and the state of Celekias, who fell for a time between 202 and 195 BCE.
The causes and the beginning of the war
Shortly after the beginning of his rule, the Siririan King of Antiya III tried to conquer the Celiria (in a broad sense of this term - that is, Phinquicia, Palestine, and Obordication), which is the hair of Ptolemy Egypt. After the first successes in the Fourth Syrian war, he was defeated at the Battle of Ramais and lost all conquest (217 BCE). This led Antiaha to pay attention to other regimes -- first he was 216 to 214 BCE, and he decided to suppress the Aga uprising in Malia Asia, and then for decades he fought in the east of his huge state. Finally, after finishing up in 204 BCE, going to that part of Arabia, which is attracted to the Persian Gulf, he decided to return to his plans on the property of Celsiya. A false opportunity for retried was to create that on an Egyptian throne was found by a small Ptolemy V, and in the south of Ptolemy's state, for several years, a powerful nuclear-toned revolt (204 BCE the insurgents have been able to fully conquer the figures and expel all the royal valleys from the Upper Egypt).
By putting an additional alliance with the Magonian King of the Philippe V, who was aiming for the possession of Ptolemy in Eguidi, Antih stood against Egypt. As we've come to our times, only a little bit of information about this conflict, there are different points of view when it started -- 202 or 201 BCE. If there's a more late date, that means that the Antiohs and the Philippines started their campaigns against the Ptolemy state at the same time (the Masteian King in 201 BCE, within the Critic War, they captured the main base of the Egyptian Navy in Eguida - the island of Samos.)
Battle actions in Celsiria
About the 202-201 campaign (or just 201) years BCE. Polybius says that the strong simplification of Antigha has committed the city of Gaza, which is at the very South border of Palestine, at the beginning of the desert, which separates it from Egypt itself. They also know that during the next counter of the Egyptians, they left their garrison in Jerusalem, and after a failed battle, they shut down in the finish city of Sidon. So in the first phase of the war, the Syrian army was ruled by the Ottomans and Palestine, but under the control of Ptolemy, there was at least one primacy in Phoenix.
No exception, it was also about the achievements of Antiaha, which was also about southern Damascus. The last (before the 5th of Sympian) is an undeniable report from ancient sources about his status as a message since the end phase of the Third Syrian War about failed siege by Damascus of Ptolemy III. But when we're making modern research of events to take this town at the beginning of the Fifth Syrian city, it was in the hands of Egyptians.
The relative meeting of Antius is probably only going to explode guesses. On the one hand, Polybius will recognize the residents of Celiria's military courage, but at the same time, especially the visions
