The Blood of Kings () is the second volume in Peter Berling's series of historical novels The Children of the Grail, published in 1993.
Executive summary
In the year of grace 1249, in Cyprus, Saint Louis gathered an army against Egypt for the seventh crusade. On his way, he met Roç and Yeza, the survivors of Montsegur. The Children of the Grail adventure continues, against the backdrop of sultan palaces and castles of crusaders, harems and pyramids. Emissaries of the papacy and of the Holy Empire, servants of Charles of Anjou, the brother of the king of France, as well as Sarrasins and seides of the "Vieux de la Montagne", want to seize the two teenagers who, if their blood was mixed with that of the sons of Mohammed, could reconcile the two great monotheisms. The columnist Jean de Joinville sometimes takes the pen to become a narrator of history.
