Korushad Kherman Oghlu

Koray Kahrman Oglu (1951 – January 13, 2018, Marmaris) was a Turkish writer, philosopher, and human rights activist.

Early Life and Education

After graduating from the Industrial Engineering department of Middle East Technical University, Kahrman Oglu went to England in 1977 to study philosophy. He spent 30 years living in England, where he worked as a university lecturer and professional trade unionist. During this time, he advised the largest union in England on human rights and foreign policy issues.

Career

Kahrman Oglu's areas of expertise included the Middle East, Arab-Israeli relations, South Africa, Latin America, Cyprus, and international affairs. In 1999, he was elected Secretary-General of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA), a position he held for seven years after being re-elected four times. He is considered the longest-serving activist in the history of ILGA.

Return to Turkey

In 2007, Kahrman Oglu returned to Turkey, where he continued his work as a writer and human rights advocate.

Death

Koray Kahrman Oglu passed away on January 13, 2018, in Marmaris.
