### Early Life and Education

Yoash "Matti" Tzidon was born on November 28, 1926, in Focşani, Romania. He immigrated to Mandatory Palestine in early 1941 with one of the last groups of youth and settled in Bialik. Tzidon studied as an outside student at the village of Children and Youth Love, which had been transferred from Germany to Bialik.

### Military Service

In 1943, Tzidon joined the Field Force in the framework of the Defense. He was first used as a jurist on the "Father of the People" network (a territorial underground connection network established between settlements and regional commanders).

Tzidon later attended the Hebrew Navy school at the Technion and the Aerial Warfare School in France, where he graduated in May 1945.

### Military Career

After graduating from the Aerial Warfare School, Tzidon became one of the first pilots of Israeli aviation. He founded the "Atalef" ("Biliac") night squadron and later served as a colonel responsible for the arms and planning departments of Israeli military aviation.

Tzidon was involved in illegal Jewish immigration from Egypt and Cyprus between 1945 and 1947, while he was a member of the Palmach between 1944 and 1948.

### Politics

Tzidon was a deputy in the Knesset (State Parliament of Israel) for Rafael Eitan's secular nationalist Tzomet party from 1988 to 1992. He served as a member of the 12th Knesset.
