Borys Fyodorovich Frantsuzov () - Russian Soviet, who worked in the etching technique. One of the leading Russian charts of the last third of the XX century.

Biography
Born February 5, 1940 in Kameshkovo (now a city in the Vladimir region). His mother died in 1942, his father died at the front in 1943. He was raised by his father's parents. In them, in the village of Zauchye, Kameshkovsky district, which he considered his small homeland, he lived up to 14 years.

In 1954 he entered the Mster Art School of Lacquer Miniature. After graduation, from 1959, he worked as a designer at the Kameshkovskaya weaving factory and a teacher of drawing and drawing at the Kameshkovskaya eight-year school. During this period he was engaged in painting in Vladimir in the studio of the artist Vladimir Yukin.

In 1964 he participated in a major art exhibition at VDNKh, and in the same year he was accepted into the Union of Artists of the RSFSR.

In 1965 he entered the Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School at the Faculty of Industrial Graphics, after graduating in 1970 he moved to Vladimir.

In the 1970s-1980s, he actively worked, became the leader of such a unique phenomenon as “Vladimir Graphics”. He was elected by the graphics department of the Vladimir Union of Artists. Participated in regional, regional, republican, all-Union, foreign and international exhibitions (Austria, Benin, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Poland, Romania, Finland, France, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia).

In 1986 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

He helped to find a creative face for many young artists, brought up a whole generation of graphics. His teacher is considered, in particular, Yuri Tkachev, Vladimir Nilov, Mikhail Kocheshkov.

The master worked in various techniques: etching, linocut, woodcut, pastel, gouache, watercolor, drawing, and also created many works of oil painting. But it was in the technique of classical etching that he created his most famous works of art – “graphic paintings”. With the advent of B. F. Frantsuzov, the graphics of the XX century acquired, according to the researcher of his work, candidate of art criticism V. E. Kalashnikov, “full picture sound.”

The artist’s works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, in the State Russian Museum, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, in the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, other art galleries of Russia, in private collections.
