Winners
The 1992 edition of the Golden Ball, the 37th edition of the football prize created by French magazine France Football, was won by Marco van Basten (Milan), a Dutch player.
Voting Process
The jury consisted of 29 specialized journalists from each of the following UEFA member associations:

* Ireland

The voting system used was as follows: each member of the jury elected those who, in their view, were the five best European football players. The first chosen player received five points, the second chosen four points, and so on.
Voting Results
A total of 435 points were distributed, with a maximum of 145 points that each player could obtain (in case all 29 members of the jury assigned their maximum number of points to one player).
The result of the vote was published in France Football No. 2437 on 22 December 1992.
