WERAR YUSUF WAS AN ELEPHANT SHIP THAT ORGANIZED THE INSTITUTION FOR THE RISE OF THE “PROTECTION.” IT IS CALLED THE WORDS OF THE BIBLE.
HISTORY OF HER
"GIAN PAOLO" - FREIGHT SHIP
"GIAN PAOLO" WAS A 25-METER-LONG COASTAL FREIGHT SHIP, WITH ONE AROMA, ONE TURN, THE HIP-CHAIR CABIN AND A LARGE WAREHOUSE.
IT WAS USED TO TRANSPORT CARGO ALONG THE COASTS, AND WAS REGISTERED IN ISTANBUL.
PURCHASE AND PREPARATION
AFTER ACQUIRED BY THE INSTITUTE FOR B, A CONSTRUCT OF METAL PIPES WAS BUILT TO 620 GLITTER BEDS IN SIX FLOORS. TWO ROOMS, KITCHEN, SIX TOILET CELLS WERE ESTABLISHED. IT HAD TWO BOATS, EVERY ELEVEN PEOPLE, AND FOOD AND WATER FOR 14 DAYS. THE AMOUNT OF WATER IS 40 TONS IN FIVE CONTAINERS AND COAL FOR 12 DAYS.
THE COMMANDER OF THE SHIP WAS THE PALMACH MAN OF THE PALM COHEN, ALONG WITH WHOM DAVID WAS THE SON OF HORIN AND ISAAC LANDOR. THE ARGUMENT WAS A FIELD WORKER.
THE CAPTAIN AND CREW OF THE FIRST OFFICER, THREE SAILORS, TWO OF THEM, THREE HELICOPTERS AND A COOK, WERE ITALIANS.
THE ELEPHANTS.
THE 770 ELEPHANTS WERE COLLECTED FROM SEVERAL SITES; OF WHICH 483 MEN, 280 WOMEN, 9 CHILDREN, AND A BABY BORN ON THE WAY; MOST OF THEM AT THE AGE OF 25. MOST OF THE ELEPHANTS WERE COLLECTED IN BOLIASKO, (IN THE BUILDING OF THE PALACE) NEAR GENOA, ITALY (THE HAMPHETIUM WAS RAISED FROM THE BUILDING OF ALBERTINA DURING THE CRUISE). THE ITALIAN AUTHORITIES DID NOT INTERFERE WITH THE ORGANIZATION TOWARDS THE FACTION.
THE SHIP WAS TIED TO THE ROCK ABOUT 40 METERS AWAY FROM THE BEACH.
ON APRIL 7, 1947, THE ELEPHANTS ARRIVED, AND THEY WERE TRANSPORTED BY RUBBER BOATS.
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PALMACH SITE WAS ELIEZER TAL.
AT 3 P.M., THE ELEPHANTS BEGAN TO BOARD THE SHIP.
AT 4:30, THEY ENDED.
ACCORDING TO THE PLAN, THE SHIP HAD TO MEET WITH THE “GUARDIAN” (THE SHIP’S NICKNAME “ THEODORE HERZL”), AT A POINT NEAR QADONIA IN TURKEY’S SHACKLES, AND TRANSFER THE ELEPHANTS TO LAND. AND THEN GO ON TO ALEXANDRIA, GET WATER AND COAL AND RETURN TO ITALY. ANOTHER OPTION WAS TO TRANSFER THE ELEPHANTS TO THE ALBERTINA SHIP.
THE CRUISE
SHE SAILED ON 7 APRIL 1947 AT 5:00 A.M. FROM GHANA IN ITALY, ON BOARD 619 OF ELEPHANTS.
HE WENT OUT WITHOUT ANY MALFUNCTIONS FROM BOLIASKO, WHEN THE PLANNED ROUTE PASSED ON THE WEST COAST OF ITALY, THROUGH THE STRAIT OF SIENA, THE AEGEAN SEA, THE GULF OF SPÁNICA, CAPE METAPAN, CRETE, RHODES, AND ALONG THE EGYPTIAN COAST TOWARDS HAIFA.
ON APRIL 10 IN THE AFTERNOON, THE SHIP MOVED FROM THE SHIP’S MAKER, WITH THE ELEPHANTS HIDING UNDER THE DECK.
DURING THE COURSE, THE TRANSFER TO THEODORE HERZL WAS CANCELLED BECAUSE IT HAD NO CONNECTION AND SINCE IT HAD ALREADY REACHED ISRAEL ON 13 APRIL.
ON 12 APRIL, SHE ANNOUNCED THAT SHE HAD TO MEET WITH ALBERTINA TO GET 151 MORE ELEPHANTS.
THE NEXT DAY, A STORM BROKE OUT AND A MESSAGE WAS RECEIVED THAT THE "ALBERTINA" ENGINE FROM KOLKEL AND HAD TO WAIT NEXT TO A SPOON.
ON APRIL 14, 6:00, THE SHIP ENTERED THE DOCK IN THE GULF OF SPÁNZA, A WARM BEACH WITH FOUR GREEK LIGHTHOUSE WORKERS.
ON APRIL 17 AT 15:00, THE MEETING TOOK PLACE WITH ALBERTINA OUTSIDE THE GULF, FIVE MILES AWAY FROM CAPE MATEP.
ON APRIL 19, THE OTHER ELEPHANTS WERE TRANSFERRED. DAVID BEN HORIN, ACCOMPANIED BY ALBERTINA, JOINED. ITALIAN CAPTAIN AND ISAAC LANDOR RETURNED WITH ALBERTINA TO ITALY. AFTER THE TRANSFER, THE SHIP'S NAME WAS REPLACED TO GALATA, THE MARKS OF ITALIAN IDENTIFICATION AND A TURKISH FLAG WERE ADDED.
AMOS IN THE 70 ELEPHANTS MADE HER WAY TO THE SHORES OF ISRAEL.
A CONFRONTATION WITH THE BRITISH
ON APRIL 21, AT 14:00, A BRITISH PLANE FIRST APPEARED. ANOTHER PLANE LATER APPEARED NEAR PORT SAID, AS WELL AS OINTMENT.
ON APRIL 22, SHE JOINED ANOTHER OINTMENT. THE SAME DAY, TWO MORE OINTMENTS ARRIVED.
THE ELEPHANTS WERE LAID BY THE LENDERS, BECAUSE IF THEY WERE DISCOVERED BY A PLANE, THEY SHOULD CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN CONTACT UNTIL BRITISH TROOPS WERE HANGED ON BOARD. TO HIDE
