Selladi tou Appi
================Selladi tou Appi (Greek: Σελάδι του Άπη) is a deserted village located in the Nicosia District of Cyprus. Prior to 1974, it was exclusively inhabited by Turkish Cypriots.
History
------------The village has a complex history. Initially, Selladi tou Appi and the neighboring village Agios Yeorgoudhi were two separate villages. However, due to their low population, they were combined under the name Selladi tou Appi in 1946.
In 1959, like many Turkish villages in Cyprus, the name of the village was translated into Seljuk (Turkish: Selçuk), a Turkish name from Sellad. This change in name reflects the cultural and linguistic influences on the island during this period.
Conflict and Evacuation
-------------------------During the period of October 1964, the village remained under attack by the Greek National Guard Army. As a result, the entire population was evacuated by the United Nations Peacekeeping Force. Most of the population were relocated to Erenköy near Seljuk.
In 1960, the village had a population of 66 people, all of whom were Turkish Cypriots.
Location
------------Selladi tou Appi is located in the region controlled by the Republic of Cyprus, near the Kokkina exclave but within the area controlled by the Cypriot government.
