Biography
Metropolitan Theophylact (in the world Constantinos Dzumerkas, ; ) is a bishop of the Alexandrian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Tripoli since 2004, Ipertim and Exarch of Libya.
### Early Life and Education
Theophylact graduated from high school in Exohi. In his youth, he entered the Vatopedi monastery on Athos, where he took monasticism. He later graduated from Afoniad and served as chief secretary and librarian at Vatopedi Monastery.
He furthered his education by graduating from the theological faculty of the University of Aristotle in Thessaloniki, after which he became a teacher.
### Clerical Career
In 1966, Theophylact was ordained as a deacon, and in 1969, he was ordained as a presbyter. He served in various metropolitan areas of the Greek Orthodox Church, including Veria, Larissa, and Rhodes. From 1979 to 1984, he was a clergyman at the Church of the Life-giving Spring in Larissa.
In 1991, Theophylact moved to the Carthage Metropolis of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria, where he was appointed rector of the St. George Cathedral in Tripoli (Libya) and head of the secondary school at the cathedral.
### Later Career
As Metropolitan of Tripoli, Theophylact developed a Greek center for mixed marriage children and people who want to learn Greek in Tripoli, with his initiative and efforts. He also served as governor of the cathedral church in Tripoli.
